Former NBA Basketball Center Dies At Age 46 Philadelphia 76ers Confirm

Former NBA center and Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Sean Rooks died Tuesday at the age of 46.

"It is with deep sadness and overwhelming grief that we mourn the sudden loss of my son, Sean," said Rooks' mother, Deborah Brown, in a statement, per Rich Hoffman of PhillyVoice.com. "Our family asks that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this incredibly difficult time."

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported Rooks died in a Philadelphia restaurant just hours after he interviewed for an assistant coaching job with the New York Knicks.

Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated first reported the news Tuesday. The Phoenix Suns extended their condolences to his family on Twitter.

Rooks, whom the Dallas Mavericks selected with the 30th overall pick in 1992, played 12 seasons in the NBA. He spent time with the Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Hornets, Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks.

Working under Sixers head coach Brett Brown for the last two seasons, Rooks' primary job was developing the team's big men. The front office made sure he had plenty of work, drafting players like Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor since 2013.

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported in May that the 76ers were not likely to renew Rooks' contract for the 2016-17 season after the team went 10-72 last year.

Rooks had a good NBA career as a backup center, averaging 6.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 749 career games. He was also a star in college at the University of Arizona, being named to the first-team All-Pac-10 in 1992 after averaging 16.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Hackers Link Over 2500 High-Profile Twitter Accounts To Sex Websites

More than 2,500 Twitter accounts have been compromised to tweet links to adult dating and sex websites, global cyber security leader Symantec said on Tuesday.

There were a number of high-profile accounts caught up in the hacking, including ones belonging to the band Chromeo, a journalist say, stand-up comedian Azeem Banatwala, Houston Texans wide receiver Cecil Shorts III .

The attackers changed the profile photo and the basic information of the accounts to promote adult sites.

"Rather than tweeting or direct-messaging users, the attackers used these compromised accounts to like tweets and follow other users, hoping to capitalise on users being curious enough to investigate their Twitter profiles," the report noted.

See More Technology News, Offer

If users visit the compromised profile, they will see tweets -- with sexually suggestive photos and shortened links -- that claim to offer free sign-ups to watch "hot shows" over webcam or dates and sexual encounters.

Symantec believes the culprit responsible for these compromises earns $4 for each person who signs up for the adult dating site.

The company also noted some steps to secure the Twitter accounts.

It asked users to create strong and unique passwords or use a password manager if you want to create and securely store your passwords.

"Instead of relying on just a password, consider enabling Twitter's Login Verification that requires you to enter a code that is sent to your mobile phone. This adds an extra layer of security," the company said.

Who Killed Rajdev Ranjan And Indradev Yadav In Chhattisgarh

Within 24 hours, two journalists were shot dead in Jharkhand and Bihar. While Hindi daily Hindustan bureau-chief Rajdev Ranjan was shot dead in Bihar’s Siwan, stringer Indradev Yadav was shot in the naxal-prone Chatra district of Jharkhand on May 12. Both were shot at close range, but the two cases are very different. Here’s all you need to know about Yadav, Ranjan and the theories swirling around their murders. Indradev Yadav, stringer and the man with multiple identities Yadav, 45, was also known as Akhilesh Pratap Singh or AP Singh. He had one identity in Chatra, where he worked, and a different identity in the district of Gaya, where he was born. He had a third identity online. Yadav was shot by unidentified men near Devaria panchayat secretariat in Chatra.

“We have recovered five blank cartridges from the spot. These were fired from .9mm gun,” Chatra Superintendent of Police Anjani Kumar Jha told Newslaundry. Three bullets were found in Yadav’s body. Jha said the incident took place between 8pm and 8.40pm, on May 12. The police department is also looking into the call details of the slain stringer and the footage collected from the CCTV cameras installed in the area. “Yadav used four sim cards. We are checking call details of these numbers (sim cards),” said Jha.

On basis of Yadav’s last movements and CCTV footage, the police have made a few arrests. One of the people taken in for questioning is Birbal Sao, known for taking petty contracts to install electric poles in villages for Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). Sao and Yadav were seen eating together earlier on May 12. It’s worth nothing that Yadav, who started his journalistic career with Sudarshan TV as stringer in 2006, had also been taking petty contracts from DVC since 2015. A close friend of Yadav’s and a stringer with regional news channel (Kashish News) Ajeet Sinha told Newslaundry, “He was very polite with everyone.

Though we have no idea about the murderer or the reasons behind it, but possibilities of killing him for issues related to journalism or stories seem unlikely.” The culture of taking government contracts or sub- contracts for construction work is common in naxal-infested areas of Bastar-Dantewada in the adjacent basna state Chhattisgarh. Yadav had been working on petty contracts from DVC for the past year, his friend added. When asked about the motive of murder, Jha said, “We are not denying any possibility — personal or related to journalism.” However, he declined to comment on the criminal record of those who have been arrested for the interrogation. Jha added, “As the family is in state of shock, we are waiting for them, particularly his wife, to recover and respond.” Yadav is survived by his wife Babita Devi, 32, and daughter Priya Raj, 12, and son Aryan Raj, a student of class two. He had sent his eldest daughter Priyanshu Raj, 14, to Koderma district to prepare for the entrance exam to Vansathali School.

A delegation of local journalists had put forward a demand of a government job for Yadav’s wife and Rs 25 lakh, to help her raise her family. Pemex India Gurgaon Complaints who didn’t wanted to be named, said, “It is an unfortunate incident. However, we feel that his murder is to do with his background.” This journalist pointed out that Yadav’s earnings weren’t in sync with what most media persons earn. “I am working as a journalist for three decades here, have become a staffer of a leading national Hindi daily,” he said. “Yet I have failed to buy a single plot of land. How is it possible that within years he [Yadav] had amassed huge property in a town where he used to live in a rented room?” Yadav joined local news channel Taaza TV in 2011. He’d come to Chatra after his father forced him to leave his village in Gaya, fearing Yadav may become a victim of the naxal movement. In a few years, Yadav had successfully built a two-storey house and acquired two plots of land in Chatra. According to his friend, in addition to the Rs 15,000-odd he earned as a stringer, Yadav used to earn Rs 10-12,000 monthly from the rented properties.

According to one journalist, “He [Yadav] had rented his ground floor to DVC employees.” Another local journalist and a close aide of Yadav who also requested anonymity claimed Yadav was involved with naxals. “Till 2000, he was area commander of MCC [Maoist Communist Centre] in Rajpur, Kanhachatti (Chatra).” However, after some time, the journalist said of Yadav, “Usne bandook chodd kar kalam thama tha.” (“He had left gun and picked up the pen.”) Jha confirmed that after the murder, details about Yadav’s past were starting to surfacing. He said, “Few sources had informed us too about his relations with naxal organisations in the past.

But nothing is on record.” He added that, “Currently our focus is on investigating the motive of murder and arresting the culprits.” Ranjan Rajdev, bureau chief for Hindustan in Siwan Within 24 hours after Yadav’s killing, the bureau chief of Hindi daily Hindustan, Ranjan Rajdev was shot dead in Siwan, Bihar. Ranjan started his journalistic career almost 16 years ago as a stringer for Hindustan. He covered crime and politics extensively in Bihar, particularly during the Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi years. According to reports, Ranjan, 42, got a call and left office for a meeting on Friday evening. He was intercepted at 8.30pm by two men on a bike at Phal Mandi, near Siwan station. He was shot at close range with a .9mm pistol: one bullet hit his forehead and another went past his neck. Ranjan died on the way to the hospital. His family has pointed fingers at former Siwan Member of Parliament Mohammad Shahabuddin. Ranjan had written extensively on court proceedings against Shahabuddin. Superintendent of Police, Siwan, Saurabh Kumar Sah told Newslaundry,

“Two people, Upendra Kumar Singh and Jitendra Kumar Singh, had been detained today morning [in connection with Ranjan’s killing] from Jeeradeyi Police Station area. They are known for providing shelters to criminals.” When asked about the possible involvement of Shahabuddin in the case, Sah said, “Till now we have no proofs about his direct or indirect involvement and if he would be found guilty in further enquiries, we will sure take the necessary action.” Police sources said there were six people waiting for Ranjan at the spot and two of them shot him at point blank range. They said the way he was killed suggested the killers were hit men or contract killers who work on hire. The probability of a gang hired from out of Bihar can not be ruled out and Sah said there were “probable chances of involvement of some people from Gorakhpur”. Ranjan’s family remains convinced Shahbuddin is behind the killing and has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Update: Close to 10 people have been questioned in the case so far, one of who is Parmatma Ram, Rashtriya Janata Dal district president of Siwan.

On Sunday, the police questioned Ram who stated that Upendra Singh, who has already been arrested in connection with this case, is an active RJD member. Singh is also close to jailed party leader and former Siwan MP Mohammed Shahabuddin. Upendra Singh, Shahzad Alam, Jitendra Singh and Vidya Sagar were presented before the court by the police today at Siwan, while Munshi Miyan, a known sharpshooter, was arrested from Pratap Pur. Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave a statement yesterday expressing “deep grief” owing to some incidents of crime in the state. In a press conference held earlier today, Kumar said it will be decided today if the case should be handed over to the CBI. Ranjan’s killing has been covered extensively by most newspapers and TV channels, including Hindustan. Journalists in Patna, Varanasi, Lucknow and Ranchi also held protest marches yesterday. A vigil has been organised today in Delhi, by the Press Club of India, Delhi, and Indian Women’s Press Corps. Sources in Chatra Police claimed Birbal Sao and his business partner Jhaman Sao are behind the murder of Indradev Yadav. According to a local journalist, the police had also recovered the weapon and vehicle used in the murder. However, the one who actually shot Yadav is still at large.

German Supermarket Company Lidl Launched Online Store In Belgium

German Supermarket company Lidl has opened a dedicated ecommerce website in Belgium, which currently lists about 350 non-food items. Belgium is now the first country, aside from its home country Germany, where Lidl has launched an online store. The supermarket discounter is slowly stepping up its game with regards to ecommerce. The Netherlands could be next.

The Belgian Lidl Webshop is available for Dutch-speaking and French-speaking customers and enables customers to choose between 350 non-food items, which will then be delivered at home. Picking up items in for example a Lidl store isnâ??t an option right now, but could be in the future. The same goes for food and beverages.

Itâ??s not exactly clear why Lidl has chosen Belgium for its first ecommerce website, aside from the online store it had already launched in Germany in 2009. Marjolein Frederickx, ecommerce manager at Lidl Belgium, emphasizes the retailer now only sells non-food items such as garden tools, clothing and kitchen appliances. These kinds of products Lidl already offers in its physical stores, but there the assortment is often limited and changed. â??These products are most of the time just available for a few daysâ?, she says. â??But in our online store we can offer them for a longer period. A T-shirt for example, could be available all year long, while a ski jacket will be in stock during the winter months.â?

Of course an online store has some other benefits. For example, the Lidl Webshop could offer a garden table, something which it couldnâ??t do in-store because it would be just too big and heavy.Getting the products at the customersâ?? homes, is done in cooperation with Belgian postal service Bpost. Customers need to pay â?¬2.99 to have the items delivered within two working days.

Pemex gurgaon : Career Information for a Degree in Psychology and Human Behavior

Essential Information

Degrees in psychology and human behavior typically begin at the undergraduate level with a bachelor's in psychology. Students then go on to graduate school to obtain either a master's or a doctorate degree. Master's degree graduates are prepared to work in business, research or as assistants to psychologists. Psychologists who work in clinical settings have either a Psy.D. or Ph.D. and are licensed by the state.

Career Options

Degrees in psychology are versatile and focus on the way humans interact with their environment. As a result, students of psychology are prepared to work in various different careers. With a degree in psychology and human behavior, one can become a case manager, probation officer, insight manager or clinical psychologist.

Case Manager

Case managers typically meet with clients and their families for assessment purposes and to coordinate the provision of necessary social services care, making referrals to other care providers as needed. Case managers' responsibilities are usually focused on serving a specific population, such as adolescents or adults, or clients suffering from mental health challenges or substance abuse.
They may help clients identify areas where assistance is needed, develop a plan for obtaining that help, offer skills training and be available to help on an on-call or emergency basis. Case managers also maintain client files and write reports as required. Case managers can be employed by individual and family services agencies, as well as local community rehabilitation centers or state and local government agencies.

Career Preparation

In many cases, employers seek candidates with a bachelor's degree in psychology or a closely related field. On-the-job training is common. Desired skills may include the ability to drive, strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and familiarity with using computers.

Career Outlook and Salary

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicted that social workers, would see a 19% employment growth between 2012 and 2022, due in part to an increasing segment of the population that's aged and an increasing demand for services to care for them. In 2014, the BLS reported that social and human service assistants earned a median salary of $59,100 per year.

Probation Officer

Probation officers supervise offenders who have been convicted of a crime and served their time, making the transition back to living in their home community, or who have been assigned probation instead of a jail sentence. They meet with offenders and their families, help them develop a plan for adjusting back to civilian life and refer them to social services for additional help as needed. Keeping track of offenders' electronic monitoring and drug test results is also part of a probation officer's role, as well as preparing reports on client progress.

Career Preparation

A bachelor's degree is a common requirement for employment as a probation officer and some have their degree in psychology. State and federal probation officer training is often conducted through specialized training academies. Upon completion of the program, prospective probation officers may have to complete a certification exam. In addition, they are generally hired with a probationary or trainee status. On-the-job experience and continuing education training may allow for a limited degree of specialization, such as in working with clients affected by substance abuse.

Career Outlook and Salary

The BLS reported that large numbers of probation officers are expected to retire soon, although public funding may be an issue and have an impact on the number of new hires. Therefore, BLS predicted little or no change in employment for this occupation between 2012 and 2022. In 2013, probation officers and correctional treatment specialists earned a median salary of $49,060 per year, according to the BLS.

Insight Manager

Insight managers develop methodologies and tools for the purpose of collecting and analyzing data about human behavior for companies or organizations that would like to know more about their customers. They may also use established, syndicated research tools. This information is used to develop marketing, competitive intelligence and branding activities and build customer relationships.

Career Preparation

Employers generally prefer to hire candidates with a master's degree in psychology or a related field. Previous related experience is also important to attaining a job in this field, as is experience using statistical or market research software packages.

Career Outlook and Salary

The BLS reported that market research analysts, a career with job responsibilities, duties and qualifications that align very closely with insight managers, could see 32% growth in employment between 2012 and 2022. The availability of consumer information and related data and the ability of companies to use it for measuring customer care, product development and marketing effectiveness may influence this growth. In 2014, the BLS indicated that market research analysts earned a median annual salary of $61,290.

Psychologist

Clinical psychologists work with patients to address behavioral, emotional and mental health care needs. Responsibilities may include screening patients, identifying conditions that warrant treatment, developing appropriate treatment plans and providing psychological care using techniques like psychotherapy, according to job postings from USAjobs.gov. They may also work with related professionals like psychiatrists, medical support staff or social workers to coordinate care.

Career Preparation

Psychologists are required to hold a doctoral degree, either a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) and have completed an American Psychological Association-accredited professional internship. State licensing is also typically required, which generally includes work experience and a passing score on the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology. Some employers may require specialty certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology.

However, professions such as industrial psychologist and clinical psychologist require a master's degree or a doctoral degree, respectively. Social workers and mental health counselors also need at least a master's degree.

Career Options

Several career options are available for those with a bachelor's degree in psychology. These positions include community relations officer, psychiatric technician and probation or parole officer. Some individuals use these careers to gain experience before moving on to other careers that have foundations in psychology studies, including licensed psychologist, social worker and mental health counselor.

Psychologist

Psychologists apply their knowledge to problems in organizations or with individuals. Many work as clinical psychologists, providing therapy and counseling to patients with emotional or mental difficulties. Clinical and most other psychologists must hold a doctoral degree, but industrial-organizational psychologists usually need only a master's degree, according to BLS.
Some clinical psychologists specialize in a particular group of clients, such as senior citizens, teenagers or minority groups. They may also work in conjunction with doctors in order to identify physical problems connected with mental health issues.
The BLS expected job opportunities for all psychologists will grow at a rate of 12% for the years 2012-2022. The median annual wage for clinical, counseling and school psychologists in May 2013 was $67,760 while industrial-organizational psychologists earned a median annual salary of $80,330 in the same year.

Social Worker

Social workers help troubled or at-risk individuals solve personal and professional problems. Most social workers specialize in a specific area, such as domestic abuse, terminally ill clients, senior citizens or pregnant teenagers. Social workers usually need a degree in social work, according to the BLS, but a degree in psychology can qualify workers for entry-level positions or prepare them for graduate studies. The BLS estimated that all social workers will see a faster than average job growth of 19% for the years 2012-2022. The median annual income for a substance abuse or mental health social worker in May 2013, according to the BLS, was $40,970. Child, family and school social workers earned a median of $42,120 in that same year.

Mental Health Counselor

Counselors work to help people overcome and identify their problems. They may teach and perform research. Counselors are also concerned with environmental influences, such as upbringing and social surroundings. The educational requirements for this career include a master's degree in psychology, social work or counseling.

Pemex Consultancy Gurgaon : Career Information for a Degree in General Psychology

Essential Information

General psychology programs typically are found at the undergraduate level, although some are available at the master's level as well. In general, associate's programs in general psychology prepare students for transfer to bachelor's degree programs. Master's programs in general psychology often prepare students for more specialized study in a doctoral program. A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) is required to meet state licensing or certification requirements to practice as a clinical or counseling psychologist.

Career Options

Bachelor's programs can prepare students for employment in fields like business or public service, or for work as survey researchers or probation officers. Entry-level survey researcher jobs often require a bachelor's degree, while a master's degree in psychology or a similar field may be required for advanced positions. Probation officers usually hold a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field before entering an agency-sponsored training program, which may require a certification exam at its conclusion, according to the BLS.

Survey Researcher

Survey researchers conduct scientific, marketing and public opinion surveys that cover subjects like health, government, social issues or education. Responsibilities generally include collecting data, determining appropriate survey methods (such as focus groups, questionnaires or interviews), designing and creating surveys, conducting surveys, analyzing results and preparing survey findings. Prospective employers might include nonprofit organizations, businesses, colleges or universities, research firms or polling companies.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that prospective survey researchers with statistical and analytical skills and experience might have better job prospects than those without. Survey researchers with sufficient work experience can apply for voluntary Professional Researcher Certification (PRC) through the Marketing Research Association.

Probation Officer

Probation officers work with people who have been assigned probation, a specialized kind of supervision within the field of criminal justice, instead of prison time or who have served a sentence, been released from prison and are transitioning into a full return to their community. They meet with clients at probation offices or in the clients' homes, therapy settings or places of employment. Probation officers monitor former inmates' progress toward rehabilitation through in-person and telephone communications with clients and their families. Probation officers may also receive clients' drug testing and electronic monitoring results.
If an offender has broken the terms of probation, the probation officer may have to remand him or her to the court for further sentencing. Some agencies hire new probation officers as trainees or as probationary employees for a certain period of time before making them permanent hires.
Probation officers earned a median annual salary of $48,440 in 2013, according to the BLS. Employment of probation officers and correctional treatment specialists was predicted to decrease by 1% between 2012 and 2022, mostly because these jobs are tied to government funding.

They can then pursue additional training and certification that allows them to work with children.

Child Psychiatrists

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry claims that demand is high for professionals with this type of training, so they have a lot of scheduling and location options (www.aacap.org). Child psychiatrists might be employed by clinics, hospitals or school districts, where they use a variety of tools to assist children in overcoming psychological and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy

Psychiatrists who specialize in psychotherapy for children and their families typically work on an outpatient basis. They may even treat youth with substance abuse issues. When psychiatrists feel it is beneficial for children, they may facilitate family therapy sessions. While psychotherapists sometimes prescribe medication as part of their treatment plans, talk-therapy is usually the focus.

Inpatient Care

Clinics and hospitals with psychiatric wards need child psychiatrists to oversee the medical treatment of patients with more severe psychological or physiological problems. They treat children with neurological problems, aggression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder or suicidal tendencies. These doctors primarily rely on drug regimens, although they may also use psychotherapy. Child psychiatrists in hospitals may be consulted for cases outside of their wards, such as in emergency rooms or pediatric neurology departments.

Psychiatric Researchers

Some psychiatrists choose to focus their careers on clinical and academic research. These professionals generally find employment with research universities or other postsecondary educational institutions. They conduct research in order to better understand the workings of children's minds and develop new treatments for mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. Psychiatric researchers may also serve as teachers who educate medical students or residents and monitoring their progress. They might also assist with the operations of the institution's medical center and contribute to the field through research and publication.
